MS in Speech-Language PathologyHow to register?
Registration for Fall begins on August 5th. Please follow the step-by-step registration instructions after you identify your student type below.
Currently-enrolled (admitted) SJSU students or those who have been admitted for the current term are not eligible to enroll through Open University. Registration for Open University students is not guaranteed and is subject to space availability. The enrollment limit for the Fall and Spring semester is 17 units for undergraduate students and 16 units for graduate students.
Class registration begins on Wednesday, August 5th. The first day of instruction is on Wednesday, August 19. Attend classes online or in person starting August 19.
Enroll in your class(es) in one of two ways:
Enroll through MySJSU
Add yourself to the class if you meet the pre-reqs and there is no waitlist. Add yourself to the waitlist if the class is full. If instructor consent is required, email the faculty for a permission number.
- Log into MySJSU
- From the student center, on the navigation tab on the left hand side, select “Other items” at the bottom to expand the menu, then click "Open University Enrollment"
- Choose “Open University Undergraduate" as the Program to Enroll if you have not earned a degree before OR “Open University PostBaccalaureate" if you have earned a degree
- Select Fall 2026 as the term and click continue. A message “You have just been activated as an Open University student” will appear. Your account is now ready for registration
Enroll through DocuSign
DocuSign Open University registration form - The link is available from August 3 to September 15th
- Starting Wednesday, August 5th enroll in your class(es) using the DocuSign Open University registration form.
- The Office of Registrar's will then set up your account and enroll you in your approved classes. Once this process is complete, you will receive a confirmation email from the Registrar's Office with instructions on how to log into your MySJSU account. You wait for 2-3 business days to log in and register for additional classes if you wish. Please refer to the first-time user login guide and how to access your gmail guide when logging into your accounts for the first time.
- You can review the document and its status by clicking on Review Document in the email. It will tell you whether you have been approved or denied for the class. If not, you can follow up with the Office of the Registrar's at records-regist@sjsu.edu.
- Have your instructor add you to the waitlist if the class is full. Permission numbers are not necessary for form submissions.
How to Term Activate And Add a Class
This tutorial will show both new and returning students how to activate their MySJSU account for the current term and how to add a class on MySJSU.
How to Submit a DocuSign Registration Form
This tutorial will show both new and returning students how to complete the Open University online DocuSign registration form.
Identify your student status
Choose from the student status below. Depending on your student status, registration instructions will vary.
Must have GAPE office approval for 200+ level classes. See our See our graduate student webpage for more information.
First-Time Open University student
- First-Time student w/ no SJSU ID (i.e. a student who attends another university or
college)
You must submit a Registration Form.
- First time and have recently attended SJSU
Log into MySJSU starting the first day of registration on August 5.
- Recently Disqualified Spring 2026
Please refer to your DQ email from the Office of Registrar for instructions. If you did not receive an email and/or were DQ'd in past terms, please submit a Registration Form.
Returning Open University student
- Returning student with SJSU ID with a recent enrollment within the past year
Get your account ready. Log into MySJSU and follow these self activation steps to activate your account. After activating your account, you can enroll in your class starting from the first day of the registration.
If you have issues accessing your student account, you can reset your password or contact the IT Help Desk at ithelpdesk@sjsu.edu.
- Returning student without enrollment in the past year
You must submit a Registration Form.
- Repeating a class
First-Time Repeat
- Open University students repeating a course for the first time may register beginning August 5, 2026. Students who meet prerequisites may enroll on their own. If prerequisites are not met, a permission number or submission of the DocuSign Registration Form is required.
Repeating for the Second Time or More- Students who have already repeated a course twice must submit the Petition to Repeat a Course More Than Two Times and receive approval before enrolling.
Other
- A post-baccalaureate/graduate student (i.e. a student who has already graduated from
SJSU or another University or college)
Post-baccalaureate/graduate students must submit a Registration Form.
- A high school student
