String Project
Fall 2026
The String Project provides group violin classes to elementary and middle school students, while offering a hands-on, supervised teaching experience to SJSU Music Education majors.
Classes start late September on Monday and Wednesday 4-5pm in the music building at SJSU.
To cover expenses, we charge a small tuition fee on a sliding scale of $100/semester per student. Additionally, there is a modest rental fee of $50 per semester to use the instruments of SJSU.
DONATIONS ARE ALWAYS WELCOME The String Project receives very limited support from the University. The School of Music is committed to further our long-standing practice of active social justice through music-making and engaging our community via the String Project. El Proyecto de Cuerdas ofrece clases grupales de violín a estudiantes de primaria y secundaria. Al mismo tiempo brinda una experiencia pedagógica a nuestros estudiantes universitarios de educación musical recibiendo una práctica supervisada.
Las clases comienzan a finales de septiembre, los días lunes y miércoles de 4-5pm en el edificio de música en SJSU.
Estamos cobrando una modesta matrícula con tarifas flexibles de $100 por semestre por cada estudiante. Adicionalmente hay costo adicional de renta de $50 por semestre para el uso del instrumento de SJSU.

La Escuela de Música está comprometida a promover nuestra larga práctica de sociedad justa e igualitaria a través de la creación musical y la participación de nuestra comunidad a través del Proyecto de Cuerdas.
